It's raining outside but I don't believe that it is

B.K. Matilal while dwelling on Knowledge vs. Belief brings in the G.E Moore’s puzzle: “p but I do not believe that p.” The same is perhaps the point emphasized in the popular Hindi expression, “Main na manu.”

This is the anvil upon which the most tenacious piece of logic or epistemology is shredded asunder. Such is the sovereign autonomy of “I mean” or “I think” which implies nothing but pure faith. Religion flourishes with this pseudo-rationality as its bulwark. There is no reason why the Savitri Erans sould be short of this stuff.
