Rama's mother and lemonade

Watching participants from St. Stephen’s College unable to name Rama's mother in a Doordarshan quiz contest, Anant Pai went on to create Amar Chitra Katha. Deepa Sreenivas weaves a colorful tale and takes the story further in SCULPTING A MIDDLE CLASS: History, Masculinity and the Amar Chitra Katha in India (Routledge: 2010). 

An interesting addition to the genealogy of nationalist sentiment in India discourse. Needless to say that Sri Aurobindo finds no mention in the book.
