With 30% vote share, a 38 year-old took over as the CM
of UP's 20 crore people by winning 55% of the seats. Multiple anomalies show up in this ultra-democratic
outcome, and hence, the role of various regulatory mechanisms encouraging
rationality and maturity needs to be stressed. While conforming to the
rules of the game is important, periodical review of the rules also is a priority.
