Seven years of probing the self

[June 26, 2012 6:26 PM R: It is also to be noted that the majority of the persons coming nowadays, are coming, only to have a job and a comfortable living. No intention of sadhana, let alone the Integral Yoga. We have observed the gradual deterioration in the atmosphere after the passing of the Mother. Even Mother has made damaging remarks about the Ashram, in the Agenda.
So where does that leave us? Of course, we can shout from the roof tops that the aim of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram is the Integral Yoga. But what is the ground reality? Complex situation, to say the least.] 7:50 PM

[Re: The Genesis of a Controversy by ned on Fri 16 Jan 2009 09:07 PM PST |  Profile |  Permanent Link I should probably add that on a personal level, I intend to keep a very, very safe emotional distance from the IY community, mostly as a result of this controversy. ;-) Group egos tend to stunt the emotional growth of individuals.

In an ultra-reductive flourish, Ulrich landed at this absurd conclusion that the community doesn't exist. Yet, though mired in confusion and conflict, a community is very much visible and vocal three and a half years later.

Theory is as fluid today as it was at the time of Heraclitus and offers scope for fecund creativity. Praxis, unfortunately, is insufficiently covered being based upon ill-lit assumptions (partly due to phenomenological restriction on description), thus jeopardizing credible and coherent theorization. Philosophy, obviously, is on the back foot owing to the joint assault by Science and Cultural Studies.

The role of yoga, - Integral Yoga in particular, - is of immense importance at this intersection. The sovereign I and its uniqueness in real time constitutes an amalgam of theory and practice unfettered by any regimentation and needs no separate validation. This seemingly groping-in-the-dark adventure is indeed a leap into the future which no other means can assure. [TNM55]
